Kolomenskoye Museum-Estate

The Kolomenskoye Museum-Estate is one of the largest museum complexes, uniting architectural monuments from different eras, museum spaces and extensive grounds. The lighting project was implemented in 2010. Stefan Schneider participated in the work as project manager and lighting designer as part of Tochka Opory Promelektrosvet CJSC.

Working with a museum complex of historical significance places special requirements on lighting. Light must correctly present the architecture and exhibition, provide necessary visibility levels for visitors, not interfere with perception of the monument and remain visually delicate. Lighting parameters — color temperature, color rendering index, directionality and light distribution — are selected taking into account materials, surfaces, the nature of the space and scenarios of its use.

Managing a project of this scale involved participation at all stages — from concept formation and solution approval to their technical implementation. This experience working with historical and museum objects became part of the professional background on which Lichtschneider’s approach to projects in the “Museums” category is built today.

Such projects form a special culture of working with light — where the main thing is not effect, but correspondence to space and task.
