Okeania Shopping and Entertainment Centre
For the “Oceania” shopping center, a lighting design concept was developed for both interior and exterior lighting. Stefan Schneider participated in the project as a key client development manager and lighting designer as part of Tochka Opory company.
The project’s distinctive feature is that the lighting solution encompassed both outdoor and indoor spaces simultaneously. This makes it possible to work with the building as a unified environment — where exterior lighting creates the first impression and works toward recognition of the complex within the urban fabric, while interior lighting greets visitors immediately beyond the entrance group and continues the character established outside. Coordination between exterior and interior lighting is a separate challenge that is resolved at the concept level.
The concept defined the lighting character for different facade and interior zones, color temperatures, source hierarchy, and principles of how light works with architecture. Such tasks require experience working with large retail facilities and understanding how light functions during extended use and at different times of day.
Experience working on such projects as part of a specialized lighting company today forms the foundation of Lichtschneider’s approach to shopping center projects.
